Goals are reached if you have a well-defined strategy. Goals are easier to achieve if you know exactly in your mind how to do it. The SMART goals will lead you to accomplish our goals. Not only your work goals, but even your personal goals.

What is a Smart Goal?

The SMART method is a specific framework where we set goals that are measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound. This is an effective way to set the objectives that will lead us to our professional goals and future success.

  1. Specific: The goal needs to be clear and specific. What do I want to accomplish? Why is it so important? What resources are involved?
  2. Measurable: Here you will define specific criteria that determine what success looks like. 
  3. Achievable: The goal should be challenging but realistic. 
  4. Relevant: The goals need to be aligned with our overall objectives and values in order to be relevant to them.
  5. Time-bound: The goal should have a specific timeline or deadline.

The specific goal could be reduce customer complaints by implementing a customer service training program for all employees, is measurable (reduce customer complaints by 50%) is achievable (based on studies about common issues)  is relevant (improve customer support service, therefore, increasing customer satisfaction), and is time-bound (within the next 3 months)

Team Goals

Work Goals

The specific goal is to increase website traffic by optimizing website content, is measurable (by 20%, website traffic can be easily tracked and compared to the previous statistics), is achievable (based on your website analytics with the implementation of optimizing techniques), is relevant (Increase brand awareness and sales), and is time-bound (During  3 months)

The specific goal is to increase my sales performance by identifying and targeting potential customers and improving communication skill, is measurable (by 15%)  is achievable (comparing to the previous sales) is relevant (improves the overall sales on the company) and is time-bound (the next 6 months)

Student Goals

The specific goal is to complete an internship by researching and applying to interesting internship opportunities, is measurable ( By the number of interviews done, the resumes..) is achievable (is a realistic goal if you have done enough preparation), is relevant (you gain practical experience and knowledge), and is time-bound (within the next 6 months)

Career goals

The specific goal is to increase the professional network by attending networking events, is measurable (attends two networking events and connects with at least 5 new people in each one) is achievable ( Based on the amount of events and people that attends each event)is relevant (increase job opportunities) and is time-bound (within the next 6 months).

The specific goal is to increase sales revenue by developing new sales strategies and adding more products, is measurable (by 15%) is achievable (within the implementation of new strategies, and additional product this could be potential realistic goal), is relevant (lead to financial success and job growth) and is time-bound (within the next year)

Learning Goals

The specific goal is to improve my German language skills, is measurable (I will take a german course for 3 months with the goal of achieving a B1 level by the end of the course), is achievable (I knew a few words and I have enough time to attend all the classes) is relevant (I plan to travel to Germany in the near future) and time-bound (I will complete the course by the end of the year).

The specific goal is to improve my presentation skills, is measurable (I will give at least one presentation per month and seek feedback from my colleagues), is achievable (I have the opportunities to present at work) is relevant (I want to become an effective presenter and improve my communication skills) and time-bound (I will start now and continue during 6 months)

Time management Goals

The specific goal is improve my time management skills, is measurable (Identifying areas of improvement) is achievable, (I will schedule my time and commit myself to it) is relevant (improving my time management will help me be more productive) and is time-bound (I will create and follow daily schedule for one week)

The specific goal is to reduce the time spent on social media, is measurable (I will track my social media use by using an app) is achievable (I commit myself and will reduce the usage gradually) is relevant (Reducing time of social media will give me more time to focus on other activities and be more productive) and time-bound (During the next 3 months  and eventually I will reduce it more and more)

Personal Goals

The specific goal is to improve my physical fitness, is measurable (I will run for 40 minutes 2 times per week and increase the distance gradually for the next three months), is achievable (I have access to a gym, and I have the time to commit myself to it) is relevant (will help me feel more healthy and reduce stress) and is  time-bound ( During the next three months)

Networking Goals

The specific goal is to improve my networking skills, is measurable (I will practice by starting conversation with new people at each networking event)  is achievable (I commit to practice my networking skills at every networking event) is relevant (Improving my networking skills will help me develop more meaningful connections) and is time-bound (For the next three months)

The specific goal is to build relationships with professional in my industry, is measurable (I will reach out two professionals in my industry each month and schedule a coffee meeting) is achievable (I will commit myself) is relevant (will help me gain meaningful insights and expand my opportunities) and is time-bound (for the next 6 months)

Marketing Goals
